Hello,
After months of studying and exams it is finally the time we all live for...summertime!! I hope all of your exams went great and you all got A's! With summertime, comes the slow season for Circle K and doing service. However, there are TONS of service opportunities throughout the summer, it is a great time to get together with your friends and do some service!! Here are some places to look for service opportunities!!
1. Local Festivals are great places to look for volunteer opportunities! Most communities have festivals to celebrate different things throughout the summer that run purely from volunteers like us! Look on your cities website, or contact the person in charge of planning the event to see if they need any help!!
2. Charity runs are in full force during the summer! There are charity runs just about every weekend throughout Wisconsin! You can either raise money and run/walk the event, or they are always in need of volunteers to work water stations and the start/finish lines!
3. District and International Events!! We have both District and International events throughout the summer that you can attend to get some service hours in!! In June we have MERP!! The end of July starts Large Scale Service Project and goes right into August!
4. My Governor's Project!! Throughout the summer you can help with my Governors project by attending the work days at Camp Wawbeek!! The first ones are this coming Friday, May 21, and Saturday May 22, we will be helping work on the trail!! Also it is not to late to sign up to ride part of the way with me, and raise money for Camp Wawbeek!!
5. Help at your local non-profit establishments, or local places that you know need assistance!! Some ideas are local nursing homes, or the humane society!! Just give them a call and set up some times that you can come in and donate your time!!
It is important to keep up your service hours, and to continue to Exercise your Right to Serve!!! This will help us achieve our goals, and give you a sense of satisfaction throughout the summer!! I look forward to hearing about all of the service you achieve!!
In Service
Jill
